I think he often dreamt of the sea
far more often than he dreamt of me.
Crystal tides lap behind his eyes
drift through the vacancy he hides.
And caged in his eyes the moon I had seen,
scents of saltwater when he looked to me.

But if he was the sea, I was the shore
Loyalty unwavering, all in all.
